AAA: driving assist system is expected to save 250000 lives in the next 30 years

CTOnews.com, August 19 (Xinhua)-- the current Advanced Auxiliary driving system (ADAS) will prevent 37 million crashes, 14 million injuries and 250000 deaths in the next 30 years in the 1950s, according to a report released Thursday by the American Automobile Association (AAA) local time.

At the same time, it also means that these technologies will reduce the number of crashes and injuries by 16% and the number of deaths by 22%. In the study, AAA researchers applied the 2017 L2 level of assisted driving to the Federal Highway Administration's traffic forecasts for the next 30 years to estimate how many lives could be saved and how many crashes and injuries could be avoided. It is important to note that this study focuses on preventing car accidents, not just reducing the severity.

But the American Automobile Association also estimates that if driving assistance remains at its current level over the next 30 years, more than 73 million people could still be injured and 850000 killed in car accidents.
