British supercar brand BAC launches a new Mono single-seater sports car with racing-class suspension.
CTOnews.com, August 21 (Xinhua)-- British supercar brand BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) recently unveiled its latest Mono single-seater sports car for the first time at Monterey Automobile week in the United States, which is an improvement on the earlier version launched 15 years ago.
Compared with the old model, the shape of the new Mono has a certain adjustment, the overall design is more similar to the Mono R model, the front line is more streamlined, and the aerodynamic optimization of the carbon fiber air inlet will make it have better heat dissipation capacity. Thanks to the graphene reinforced carbon fiber material and the adoption of a new generation of steel frame chassis, the weight of the new Mono remains at 570kg.
In the chassis section, BAC Mono continues to use a four-wheeled double-arm independent suspension with two-way adjustable shock absorbers at all corners of the body, and its Pirelli P Zero tyres are made of Trofeo R rubber specially designed for Mono.
The new Mono still carries an adjusted 2.5L naturally aspirated Ford engine with a maximum power of 316hp and a maximum torque of 231lb-ft., with rear wheel drive, it can accelerate at 0-60 mph (0-96 km / h) in 2.7 seconds. Engine improvements include the addition of forged connecting rods and pistons, upgrading of camshafts and valve springs, modification of the intake system with separate throttle valves, and aerodynamic optimization of the carbon fiber intake of the new car. Officials say the upgrades, as well as adjustments to hardcore and racing-class suspension, have made the car "perform well on the road and on the track".
By 2024, BAC will also launch a turbocharged version of the Mono, which is expected to feature an upgraded version of the Ford EcoBoost 2.3L engine used by the Fox ST.
In terms of appearance, the new Mono adopts the design style of Mono R launched in 2021. BAC provides a highly customized experience for every buyer, including painting solutions, gearbox proportions, suspension settings and even custom steering wheels.
BAC did not disclose the price of the new Mono, but it is expected to be slightly more expensive than the previous model, with an expected price of 245000 pounds (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2.278 million yuan). Production of the new Mono has begun in Liverpool and the first deliveries are scheduled to take place immediately after Monterrey car week.
