(Changguang Satellite) to launch a multispectral optical satellite called Hong Kong University of Science and Technology-Xiongbin-1 at the Jiuquan Satellite launch Center in Gansu Province this Friday (August 25) to monitor remote sensing data related to the global environment, disasters and sustainable development.

The public CTOnews.com of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology noted that the "Hong Kong University of Science and Technology-Xiongbin-1" multispectral optical satellite is mainly used for scientific research purposes. Its remote sensing image resolution is 0.5m and the image width is more than 150km, which is 20 times that of the current public European Space Agency Sentinel II optical satellite, and its width is similar to that of the latest generation land satellite in the United States, which is the highest standard in the category of civil satellites.

First of all, HKUST will use the remote sensing data provided by satellites to establish a digital twin system covering all slopes in Hong Kong for monitoring the surface conditions, simulating and displaying the process of landslip disasters and social response to disasters, to help enhance social disaster response coordination and decision-making management.

It is understood that Changguang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. was established on December 1, 2014, through 21 successful launches to achieve 108 "Jilin-1" satellites in orbit, built the world's largest sub-meter commercial remote sensing satellite constellation.
