CTOnews.com August 22 news, former PayPal chief operating officer Reid Hoffman (Reed Hoffman) in yesterday's foreign media Insider Business interview, strongly criticized Musk in the merger of PayPal many years ago.

In 2000, Musk's online finance company X.com merged with security software company Confinity. The company eventually became PayPal, and Musk's struggle for control of PayPal triggered a series of infamous "office politics" and later became "Silicon Valley legends."

According to ▲ source Insider Business, Mr Hoffman said Mr Musk had been "dishonest" in history and that Mr Musk pushed the merger by emphasizing his company's "leadership skills of experienced executives". After the merger was completed, Mr Musk kicked the executive out and took the top job.

Hoffman compared the merger to marriage and said Musk was acting like "someone hiding a physical illness from his spouse until he got married."

CTOnews.com inquired that Musk had been the CEO of PayPal for a short time, and in September 2000, Musk was ousted by the board of directors. Two years later, eBay bought PayPal for $1.5 billion, making Mr Musk, still the largest shareholder, extraordinarily rich.

Foreign media say Musk has been a polarizing figure since then, which is reflected in his "chaotic management style" and his "childish sense of humor". The most recent example is his renaming of Twitter to X. caused a great deal of controversy.
