To avoid user confusion, Apple explains the conversation awareness function of AirPods Pro 2 headphones to users through Siri
CTOnews.com, August 24-Apple has added a new feature to AirPods Pro 2 in its latest iOS 17 beta: conversation awareness. This feature allows AirPods Pro 2 to automatically adjust the volume and noise reduction mode to suit the user's communication.
When users are talking to others, the conversation awareness feature lowers the volume of AirPods Pro 2 and turns on transparent mode so that users can hear the sounds around them.
CTOnews.com notes that in the latest iOS 17 Beta 7, when a user first turns on conversation awareness, Siri explains this feature to the user and informs AirPods Pro 2 that the volume has been lowered.
Dialogue awareness is part of what Apple calls adaptive audio, which includes three functions:
Adaptive noise reduction control: adjust the noise reduction degree according to the ambient noise level
Personalized volume: adjust the volume when switching between noisy and quiet environments
Dialogue perception: turn down the volume and enable transparent mode when speaking
These three functions are started automatically and are designed to provide users with a more comfortable and convenient listening experience. However, if users are not aware of these features, they may be confused or mistakenly think that AirPods Pro 2 is malfunctioning. So in iOS 17 Beta 7, Apple asked Siri to introduce conversation awareness to users and remind users every time it starts.
Currently, adaptive audio is only available for AirPods Pro 2.
