Weibo's revenue of $440.2 million in the second quarter increased by 5% over the same period last year, with 258 million daily active users.
CTOnews.com August 24 news, Weibo today announced the second quarter and interim financial results of 2023, revenue of $440.2 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3.205 billion yuan), down 2% year-on-year, or 5% year-on-year increase based on the fixed exchange rate; operating profit of $123.5 million, operating profit margin of 28% Net profit attributable to Weibo shareholders was $81.4 million (currently about 593 million yuan), or 34 cents per diluted net income per share.
In terms of businesses, Weibo's advertising and marketing revenue in the second quarter was $385.7 million (currently about 2.808 billion yuan), the same as the same period last year or up 7% year-on-year at a fixed exchange rate; revenue from value-added services was $54.6 million (currently about 397 million yuan), down 16% year-on-year or 10% at a fixed exchange rate.
CTOnews.com learned from the financial results that Weibo had 599 million monthly active users in June 2023, a net increase of about 17 million users over the same period last year. Mobile users account for 95% of monthly active users. In June 2023, the average number of daily active users was 258 million, a net increase of about 5 million users over the same period last year.
Weibo also announced that Mr. Liu Bo has been appointed as a director of the company's board of directors and Mr. Dong Benhong has resigned from the board of directors with effect from August 23, 2023.
Liu Bo is currently the president of Alibaba's Taobao and Tmall Group, Alimama and Xianyu. He was appointed Vice President of Alibaba Group in March 2020. Mr. Liu joined Alibaba in 2005 and held a number of positions, including President of Taobao University, General Manager of Juhuasuan and General Manager of Tmall Operations Department. Liu Bo holds a bachelor's degree in aeronautical mechanical design from Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautics and an advanced master's degree in business administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
