CTOnews.com, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) according to the latest TrendForce research, DRAM industry revenue in the second quarter was about $11.43 billion, up 20.4% from the previous quarter, ending three consecutive quarters of decline.

Analysts said that the growth in the quarter was due to the rising demand for AI servers, which led to the growth of HBM shipments, coupled with the backlog of client-side DDR5, which led to an increase in shipments from all three original factories.

Among them, SK Hynix shipments increased by more than 35% month-on-month, and the proportion of DDR5 and HBM shipments with higher average price (ASP) increased significantly, so against the trend growth of 70.9% Q2 revenue increased by nearly 50% to US $3.44 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 25.043 billion yuan), returning to the second place.

Samsung Electronics currently lags behind the DDR5 production process and accounts for a limited proportion, coupled with a drop of about 70.9% in ASP, but thanks to a slight increase in Q2 module factory preparation and AI server construction demand, Q2 revenue increased 8.6% month-on-month, ranking first with revenue of $4.53 billion (currently about 32.978 billion yuan).

Although the development of HBM, which ranks third, lags behind, DDR5 still has a certain proportion of shipments, which makes ASP roughly flat. Driven by shipments, revenue is about $2.95 billion (currently about 21.476 billion yuan), an increase of 15.7% month-on-month, but Samsung and Meguiar's market share have shrunk.

In addition, South Asia and Huabang also grew slightly, while Liji Power was affected by the lack of demand, and its manufacturing process was relatively backward, lacking a competitive advantage. DRAM revenue declined by about 10.8%, the only original factory declining this quarter, and 7.8% if OEM revenue was calculated.
