Apple iOS 17 intelligent alarm advises users in advance to download offline maps in areas with poor mobile signal.

CTOnews.com, August 24 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Apple recently released the first developer preview update of iOS 17, which not only enhances the personalization of lock screens, but also optimizes native applications such as wallets and photos.

The most intuitive change for users using iOS 17's Apple Maps app is that they can download data packets from specific areas so that they can use them offline.

CTOnews.com Note: after downloading the packet to the local area, users can navigate by means of driving, walking, cycling and public transportation, and will also see information such as the estimated time of arrival.

Although Apple Maps is several years later than Google Maps, Apple is very good at this feature. Some Reddit users have found that if you want to go to a certain area, Apple will remind you to download offline maps before you enter the area with a poor signal.

To put it simply, when you plan a route on an iPhone running iOS 17, Apple Maps helps you check if there is a weak signal area on the route.

If the system finds that your phone signal will be poor before you arrive at your destination, a link will be automatically included in the route option, and you can click to download an offline map covering the current route. This means that users will no longer get lost because of carelessness and no signal on their phones.

At this stage, we do not know how Apple Maps will judge the needs of users and display this reminder. Foreign media believe that it may be based on telemetry data collected by other Apple users, and there may be regional restrictions. It is expected that it may be applied to a wider range of areas in the future.
