The Cook account on Instagram is fake and has been deleted
CTOnews.com August 28, Apple CEO Tim Cook is a person who doesn't like to be active on social media. According to 9to5Mac earlier today, Cook opened a personal account on Instagram, but the account has been proved to be a fake.
The account is @ tim.d.cook, and its first post, posted on August 20, is about World Photography Day, along with two photos taken with iPhone, much like Cook's own post. The second post, posted on Aug. 23, shows a 30-second ad as part of a campaign Apple began last week to promote Apple's partnership with 3DPets. 3DPets uses lidar and TrueDepth cameras on iPhone to make artificial limbs for dogs, and this post looks a lot like something Cook would post on his Instagram account.
CTOnews.com noted that the account was also followed by Apple vice presidents such as Lisa Jackson (vice president of environment, policy, and social initiative) and Alan Dye (vice president of human interface design). Other Apple employees also followed the account, so many people thought the account was real.
It turns out that the account is fake and Instagram has deleted it.
It is worth noting that Apple itself has an official Instagram account for sharing photos and videos taken with iPhone.
