Amazon CEO: there will be no way out for those who do not return to the office
CTOnews.com, August 29 (Xinhua)-- Amazon CEO Andy Jesse has issued a warning to employees who don't want to return to the office: if you don't do it, your future at Amazon may not be long, according to Insider.
Jesse reportedly made such remarks at a meeting earlier this month. According to CTOnews.com, Amazon requires its employees to return to the office three days a week from May, but many employees are unhappy with this. Thousands of employees signed a petition against the request and went on strike.
This clearly does not change Amazon's position on the matter. In a recording of the meeting obtained by Insider, Jesse said to employees: "now is not the time to disagree and not to execute," adding, "if you don't agree and don't execute... then you may not have a way out at Amazon because we have to go back to the office at least three days a week."
According to reports, Jesse said his decision to send employees back to the office was a "judgmental decision" and that employees could leave if they did not want to comply. "it's not right that all of our colleagues are in the office three days a week, and some refuse to do so," Jesse said.
In addition to continuing layoffs, Amazon has been cracking down on employees who refuse to return to the office. Insider has previously reported that Amazon will force employees who do not want to move to the location of their team to "voluntarily resign".
