CTOnews.com, August 29, BMW Group recently announced that the first battery logistics center at the Leipzig plant has broken ground, which is the group's first large-scale non-fossil fuel facility.

The BMW Leipzig plant is widely praised for its modern and sustainable development, and the new battery logistics center will cover all three aspects of battery coating, module production and assembly.

BMW plans to launch 25 electric vehicles by 2023, 12 of which are pure electric vehicles. BMW also plans to achieve global carbon neutrality by 2025 and reduce its carbon footprint by 80% by 2030.

Petra Peterh ä nsel, head of the BMW Leipzig plant, said: "We are in the vanguard of BMW Group electrification, and the BMW i3 is the best proof. By laying out the production of electronic components and preparing for mass production of MINI Countryman, the factory has begun to take shape of the industry."

The battery logistics center under construction is officially named Supply Centre North. The first phase of the project will build a warehouse, two-story office building and loading tunnel, with a total area of 38000 square meters.

The battery logistics center has a total investment of US $100 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 729 million yuan) and will accommodate 500 employees.
