Thank CTOnews.com netizens and independent photographers for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com August 29, the CompactFlash Association today announced the CFexpress 4.0 specification, which doubles the theoretical transfer compared to the current specification while maintaining backward compatibility.

As shown in the figure above, the new specification retains the physical form factor of all previous CFexpress memory cards: type A, Type B, and Type C. The new specification realizes the upgrade from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 4.0. the transmission speed of CFE-A memory card with one PCIe 4.0channel can reach 2GB/s, and the transmission speed of CFE-B memory card with two PCIe 4.0channel can reach 4GB/s. The four-channel CFE-C card shown above has not been used by the camera industry.

In addition, the association is preparing a new VPG (Video performance Assurance) specification to achieve higher continuous video recording, which will be released in the near future.

According to IT House, Sony cameras currently use CFE-A memory cards, while a number of manufacturers, including Canon and Nikon, use CFE-B memory cards. CFexpress memory cards are relatively expensive. Sony's large-capacity, high-performance TOUGH triple-defense specification M-series CFexpress Type A memory cards launched this year have a recommended retail price of 5999 yuan for CEA-M1920T and CEA-M960T,960GB, and 10999 yuan for 1920GB.

Manufacturers, including Rexa, sell CFE-B memory cards, and the 2TB sells for 9999 yuan.
