CTOnews.com, August 30 (Xinhua)-- A team from the United Arab Emirates recently released an Arabic AI model called Jais, which was developed by a group of engineers, researchers and a Silicon Valley chip company.

According to reports, the Jais large language model contains 13 billion parameters, which are composed of a large number of Arabic and English data, some of which come from computer code.

The model is trained in the Silicon Valley-based Cerebras Systems supercomputer and is a collaborative project between Cerebras, the United Arab Emirates University of artificial Intelligence and Inception, a subsidiary of the United Arab Emirates G42 Technology Group, which focuses on artificial intelligence.

Jais is named after the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates, and Timothy Baldwin, a professor at the University of artificial Intelligence in the United Arab Emirates, said that because there is not enough Arabic data to train models the size of Jais, the computer code in English data helps to train the reasoning ability of models.

Jebel JaisBaldwin, the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates of ▲, also told Reuters: "[the code] is of great help to the model in terms of reasoning ability because it clarifies the [logical] steps."

Jais will be provided through an open source license, but CTOnews.com has not found the relevant project information yet. It is worth mentioning that the official website of the G42 Group of the United Arab Emirates shows that the company's CEO is Xiao Peng.
