CTOnews.com Sept. 1 News, Magic Leap today sent an email to users informing users that they will "stop running" the Magic Leap 1 AR header display on December 31, 2024.

As you can see, we announced that support for Magic Leap 1 will be discontinued on December 31, 2024. We have closed the sales channel so far, but existing users will continue to receive support until 2025.

The following adjustments will be made in 2025:

System: Magic Leap will fix outages that occurred prior to December 31, 2024, affecting core functions (specifically determined by Magic Leap).

Customer service: until December 31, 2024, users will continue to provide troubleshooting assistance when they encounter problems with Magic Leap 1 products.

Warranty: Magic Leap will perform its duties in accordance with the previously agreed Magic Leap 1 warranty policy.

Cloud services: after December 31, 2024, Magic Leap 1 products will no longer provide cloud service support. The core functions will reach the lifecycle and the Magic Leap 1 devices and applications will stop running.

Magic Leap launched the Magic Leap 1 headset in mid-2018, which is the company's first consumer-oriented AR headshow. The headset is powered by a computing bag tied to the waist and is equipped with a single tracking controller.

The Magic Leap 1 head display costs as much as $2300 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 16767 yuan), and the Magic Leap 1 is not suitable for outdoor use, so it does not provide the outdoor features promised by AR glasses, such as walking navigation, real-time translation, and so on.

Magic Leap's founder, then CEO, initially expected it to sell more than 1 million units in its first year. In fact, it is reported to have sold only 6000 units in the first six months.
