NASA "Smart" Mars helicopter continues to set a record, completing its 56th flight.

The small helicopter, which weighs about 1.8 kilograms, made its 56th flight on August 26 and stayed in the air for nearly 2.5 minutes.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, wrote on X: "the # Martian helicopter completed its 56th flight, flying 410m over the Martian surface at a maximum altitude of about 12 meters. The purpose of this flight is to relocate the helicopter."

Dexterity, along with the Perseverance rover, landed in the Jazelo crater (Jezero Crater) on Mars in February 2021. Witty quickly completed its five demonstration missions, proving that powered flight is possible in a sparse atmosphere like Mars. NASA then extended the duration of the mission, during which time it served as a scout for the perseverance, which looked for signs of life and collected samples. Together, the two robots are exploring the 45-kilometer-diameter Jazelo crater, which once had a large lake and a river delta billions of years ago.
