Volkswagen's Seat will withdraw from the market, and the Cupra brand will take over.

CTOnews.com, Sept. 4, the chairman of Seat confirmed at the Munich auto show that Seattle will no longer produce cars in the future, but will be completely replaced by the Cupra brand. When asked about the future of Seattle, Thomas Schafer said: "the future of Seattle is Cupra."

Mr Shafer said existing Seattle models would continue to be produced until the end of their life cycle, but the brand would eventually withdraw from the carmaking market. Seattle's name will be retained and will not be eliminated, and Schafer said Volkswagen "will find a different role for it." The company, which has already launched the Seattle Mo, may turn to other vehicles and travel solutions, such as electric scooters.

To that end, Schafer said Volkswagen would "invest heavily in Cupra". Cupra has grown from the performance department of Seattle to a brand that makes its own unique models, and Cupra Formentor will also launch the Cupra Tavascan and an entry-level concept car called Cupra Urban Rebel, as well as an electric sports car called Cupra DarkRebel, which will go into production at the Seattle plant in Martorell, Spain, in 2025, along with platform brothers of other Volkswagen brands, including the Volkswagen ID 2.

Shafer said the investment in Spanish manufacturing shows Volkswagen's commitment to Spain. This is further demonstrated by Volkswagen's investment in a new battery super factory in Valencia at a cost of 10 billion euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 78.4 billion yuan).
