CTOnews.com, Sept. 5 (Xinhua)-- Apple will acquire BIS Records, a famous Swedish classical music brand, and plan to include it under Apple Music Classical and Platoon, Apple's brand focused on discovering cutting-edge musicians.

BIS Records is a classical music brand founded by Robert von Bahr in 1973, with a large music catalogue and excellent sound quality, is a leader in the classical music industry, and just celebrated its 50th anniversary this week.

BIS Records announced on its website today that it would be acquired by Apple, along with a statement from its founder, Robert von Bahr.

BIS will be part of Apple Music Classical and Apple's brand Platoon, which Apple acquired in 2018, Platoon, a London-based Aspirr start-up focused on discovering emerging music artists.

CTOnews.com noted that in 2021, Apple announced the acquisition of classical music streaming service Primephonic, and in March Apple released the Apple Music Classic app, which provides a simpler interface for classical music. Apple Music Classical allows users to search by composer, work, conductor, catalog number, etc., and users can get more detailed information from editing comments and descriptions.

Apple says it has been working with classical music artists and institutions to provide exclusive content and music, and the acquisition of BIS Records appears to be the latest move to strengthen the service.
