CTOnews.com, September 6 (Xinhua)-- International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach announced the membership of the 2023 International Olympic Committee Commission on Tuesday, local time, emphasizing its commitment to gender equality and announcing the establishment of a new e-sports commission.
The e-Sports Commission (Esports Commission) will be chaired by IOC member David Lapatien (David Lappartient). CTOnews.com noted that he had previously led the IOC e-sports contact group, and that the Olympic e-sports week held in Singapore in June was officially considered a "significant success".
Officials also mentioned that he had been leading the IOC e-sports contact group until the new commission was established, highlighting the IOC's recognition of virtual sports. e-sports have great potential to attract new spectators and provide new opportunities for athletes and fans.

It is reported that there are 287 men and 296 women in the IOC Commission of the International Olympic Committee in 2023. This represents a significant 20% increase in the proportion of women compared with 2013.
