CTOnews.com, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) Google hasn't given up on online gaming after shutting down its cloud gaming platform Stadia earlier this year. Recently, YouTube began to launch a new online gaming service called Playables to some users. The service allows users to play a variety of games directly on YouTube without downloading or installing them.

Playables is still in the testing phase, and only a few users can see the Playables section on the home page of YouTube. YouTube confirmed the existence of the service on its help page and said it would start testing it on September 5.

CTOnews.com notes that Playables is somewhat similar to the Instant Apps function of the Google Play Store, allowing users to experience different Android games and applications, but Playables offers complete games, not just demo versions. In addition, Playables can be used across platforms, whether it's a desktop browser or a mobile device.

YouTube has always liked to test its experimental features by randomly selecting users and markets, but has not yet disclosed the scope or timing of Playables testing. If you want to know if you have been selected to participate in the test, users need to log in to YouTube with their Google account and look for Playables functionality on their devices. However, this does not mean that Playables will be fully launched, as YouTube often cuts down some experimental features, such as the termination of YouTube Stories in June this year. It remains to be seen whether Playables will succeed.
