Toyota subsidiary executives: pure electric version of the Elfa model is considering its debut in the Chinese market
CTOnews.com, Sept. 10, according to Nikkei Chinese website on Friday, Toyota body president Matsuo Matsuo, president of Toyota subsidiary Toyota, talked about Toyota's planned electric MPV model in the future. Matsuo said that considering Toyota's omni-directional strategy, which attaches importance to multiple sources of power, the pure electric MPV project hopes to push forward hard, which will help meet customer needs and enhance competitiveness.

Toyota body chairman Yingji Shuijian, who was interviewed with the president, pointed out that at present, pure electric MPV models have become "very popular" in China, and a number of local car companies have successively launched pure electric MPV of similar design to Elfa, giving themselves a sense of crisis. The chairman also hinted that "although the timing of [pure electric Elfa] is uncertain, plans to launch in the Chinese market rather than in Japan are already being discussed."
