Android WhatsApp beta launched the "third Party chat" page, designed to comply with the new EU rules

CTOnews.com, Sept. 11, according to WABetaInfo, the Android WhatsApp beta update (version 2.23.19.8) released today includes a new page called "third Party chat", which currently does not work properly and cannot be accessed by users.

CTOnews.com previously reported that the European Union recently reached an agreement on a major competition reform called the Digital Markets Act (DMA), designating for the first time six companies as "gatekeepers", including Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Byte Jump, Meta and Microsoft, including 22 core platform services that must provide users with the ability to communicate with each other using different App.

WhatsApp is one of the companies that need to comply with the new provisions of the EU Digital Markets Act and is developing a new feature specifically for the new regulations. WhatsApp has six months to adapt to new European regulations to provide its interoperability services in the European Union. It is not clear whether this function will eventually be extended to countries outside the European Union.

Interoperability will allow others to contact users through WhatsApp, even if they do not have a WhatsApp account.

In addition to stipulating that message App must be interoperable, DMA requires gatekeepers to allow users to delete pre-installed App or buy alternative App stores.
