Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
According to reports on the evening of September 12, Beijing time, EU antitrust regulators are consulting Microsoft competitors and customers to assess whether they have been affected by Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard deal in the UK.
Last month, Microsoft offered a new acquisition plan to British regulators for the Activision Blizzard deal. Under the new proposal, Microsoft will transfer cloud game rights for Activision Blizzard's current and future games to Ubisoft.
The move is designed to reassure British regulators because of concerns that Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard will have an impact on cloud gaming competition.
In April, UK regulators vetoed the deal. But in July, it said it would re-evaluate the deal if Microsoft could submit a new plan.
Last month, after Microsoft submitted a new plan to the UK to transfer Activision Blizzard's cloud game rights to Ubisoft, the European Commission said it would review whether the proposal would affect Microsoft's previous concessions to the EU.
The EU approved the deal in May after Microsoft agreed to license popular games such as call of Duty to rival game streaming platforms. However, Microsoft's compromise with the European Union does not include a deal with Ubisoft.
In January last year, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Activision Blizzard for about $69 billion. When the deal is completed, Microsoft will become the third highest revenue gaming company in the world, after Tencent and Sony. Subsequently, a number of regulators around the world launched investigations into the deal.
