Apple iOS 17 introduces the "HEIF Max" option, which averages 5MB per 4800-megapixel photo.

CTOnews.com, September 13, according to foreign technology media 9to5Mac, after Apple's iPhone 14 Pro series models installed the update of iOS 17 RC version, the camera app introduced a new "HEIF Max" option that allows users to take 4800-megapixel photos in HEIF format.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max currently supports three photo options. CTOnews.com attaches the following options:

Regular 1200 megapixels, which can be saved in JPEG or HEIF format

1200 megapixel photos in ProRAW format

4800 megapixel photos in ProRAW format

Apple's iPhone 14 Pro series supports 4800 megapixel photography, but previously only supported ProRAW format. This format is output as the original image, and the average size of a single photo is 75MB.

As a result, Apple introduced the HEIF Max option in iOS 17, which allows users to take pictures at 4800 megapixels, which takes up an average of about 5MB per photo and provides more details than the regular 1200 megapixels.
