Tesla launches Powerwall 3 household energy storage system with built-in solar inverter
CTOnews.com Sept. 13, Tesla today launched the latest household battery energy storage system Powerwall 3, which has higher power output and built-in solar inverter.
The appearance of Powerwall 3 is still similar to that of the existing Powerwall 2, and the battery capacity is still 13.5kWh and the same as Powerwall 2. There is a "T" sign on the front instead of the spelled Tesla logo. Its size is 110 cm x 61 cm x 19.3 cm and its weight is 130 kg.
The advantage of Powerwall 3 is that it does not need to install a third-party solar inverter to work. Powerwall 3 can be connected to each other to reach the battery capacity of 40.5kWh. Equipped with six solar input ports, continuous grid-connected power is 11.5kW, compared with Powerwall Plus with only four solar input ports and Powerwall 2 with 10kW continuous grid-connected power.
According to officials, the solar energy grid-connected efficiency of the device is as high as 97.5%, which means that it can effectively convert solar energy into electricity and store it for families to use without wind and light. In addition, the new product enjoys a 10-year product warranty. Tesla said that the Powerwall 3 is optimized for easy installation and high power output, meaning that a single Powerwall 3 can be used as an uninterruptible power supply for most homes.
However, CTOnews.com notes that Powerwall 3 is not compatible with other energy storage solutions, including Powerwall 2, nor can it collaborate with other solar inverters. It is not clear whether Powerwall 3 can be connected to existing solar panels, and Tesla's FAQ on his Powerwall 3 page did not give an answer.
Tesla has not yet announced the price of Powerwall 3.
