PICO new handle exposure: untracked lamp ring design, or achieve new breakthroughs in interactive technology

Compared with the PICO 4 series, the biggest difference of the leaked new handle is that it removes the design of the outer tracking ring and is smaller. The cause of the handle leak is unknown. The post has been deleted as of press time, but the picture has also aroused discussion among VR players and practitioners.

PICO Baidu Tieba flows out of the new handle spy photo, the light ring cancelled by PICO, also known as the "tracking light ring" or "positioning ring", is lined with many infrared lights, which are lit out regularly to let the head wear know the exact location of the handle. If the circle is obscured, or the number of infrared lights is reduced, the positioning and tracking of the handle will be inaccurate.

At present, PICO has not announced its specific technical plan, but CTOnews.com found that four papers were selected by the byte PICO interactive perception algorithm team at this year's ICCV computer Vision International Conference, and the core research focused on gesture reconstruction and bare-handed interaction. Guess PICO or complete the positioning and tracking of the new handle through bare-handed interaction.

However, the idea also has difficulties in technical details, such as how to accurately judge the relative relationship between the VR handle and the bare hand, and how to determine whether optical tracking or bare-handed recognition should be used at a given moment. It is not clear what technical solution will be adopted for the new handle and whether it will be launched in conjunction with the next-generation product PICO 5, and there was no direct response from PICO.
