Sources say Mercedes-Benz will stop production of existing G-Class cars in the first quarter of next year.

CTOnews.com, September 19 (Xinhua)-- Mercedes-Benz will stop producing existing G-Class models in the first quarter of 2024, according to an internal letter disclosed by Business Insider Germany on September 14.

Mercedes-Benz is preparing a new, more aerodynamic model that will be designed in a style similar to the all-electric EQG, increasing mileage, improving battery efficiency and reducing fuel consumption in gasoline-powered V6 and V8 versions.

"after adopting the electric engine, we have encountered considerable challenges in aerodynamics," Mercedes-Benz head Emerich Schiller said in an interview with AutoCar. These challenges are mainly reflected in the interior of the vehicle, but the perception of consumers is not strong.

Schiller says it will improve aerodynamics without adjusting the appearance of existing cars, so the refurbished version to be launched next year will significantly reduce fuel consumption.
