On Tencent QQ's official feedback page, the official announcement said that "based on the copyright protection of emoticons, the function of downloading emoticons to local areas will no longer be supported in the future."

CTOnews.com tests found that this emoticon restriction appeared after users updated to the latest QQ version 8.9.80, while previous QQ versions could still download emoticon packages to local images.
