CTOnews.com, September 21, according to the latest report released by market research firm Canalys, shipments of PC (desktops, laptops and tablets) in India in the second quarter of 2023 were 3.9 million, down 15% from a year earlier and up 2% from a month earlier, showing signs of recovery.

Of this total, notebook shipments were 2.3 million, down 12% from the same period last year; desktop shipments were 764000, down 17% from the same period last year; and tablet shipments were 873000, down 22% from the same period last year.

Citing Canalys, CTOnews.com forecasts that PC shipments will fall 9 per cent this year, but will rebound in 2024 and 2025, which is expected to grow by 15 per cent year-on-year.

In terms of brands, Apple was the only company with positive growth in the second quarter of 2023, with shipments of 319000 Mac and iPad units, accounting for 8.2% of the market, up 89.5% from a year earlier.

While Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Dell, Acer and other brands have all declined to varying degrees, of which Lenovo has the largest decline, accounting for 33.9%.
