Thomas Dohmke mentioned the reason why there is still a lot of demand for software developers in the industry, mainly because there is a lot of "old" code. For example, banks and financial institutions are still running COBOL code from the 1960s, and the code was not written based on unit tests and CI / CD, so someone has to maintain it and want to convert the relevant COBOL code to Java or Python.
