CTOnews.com, September 25 (Xinhua)-- A ransomware gang calling itself Ransomed.vc claimed to have successfully hacked into the Japanese company Sony Group and threatened to sell a batch of data stolen from the company, according to Cyber Security Connect.

The group's claim has not been confirmed, but Cyber Security Connect said the relatively new blackmail software gang, which emerged only last month, "has attacked a large number of victims".

"We have successfully breached all Sony's systems, we will not blackmail them, we will sell the data because Sony is unwilling to pay, and the data is currently available for sale," the group said on both open and dark websites. "

The group has released some evidence of a breach of Sony's system, but the information "doesn't seem particularly convincing on the surface," including what appears to be an internal login page, an internal PowerPoint presentation, several Java files and a screenshot of a leaked file tree that appears to contain less than 6000 files.

As of CTOnews.com 's release, Sony officials have not yet responded to this.

In 2011, Sony's PlayStation Network suffered a massive breach, resulting in the disclosure of personal information on about 77 million accounts and the disruption of the service for 23 days.
