CTOnews.com, September 26 (Xinhua)-- the Cmur8 electric hydrofoil speedboat launched by Swedish electric boat startup Candela set a new world record last week, driving 483miles (about 777.31 km) in 24 hours on the inland waterway around Stockholm.

The speedboat, which sets sail from the port of Frihannon in cloudy days and is powered by a 69 kWh battery pack provided by Polar Star, has a range of 66 miles at full power and a cruising speed of 23 miles per hour.

To ensure a record, the speedboat travels at a top speed of 31 mph for 45 minutes before recharging for a full 24 hours, with officials saying it has an efficiency of 1 kWh per nautical mile and a speed of 23 mph.

Using the same 69 kWh battery pack and DC charging technology as the standard continued version of the Polar 2, the hydrofoil can achieve a range of 57 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 22 knots (CTOnews.com Note: about 40.23km / h). The maximum speed is 30 knots (about 56.33 km / h).

The battery pack powers a 75-kilowatt electric direct-drive underwater thruster mounted on a pair of computer-controlled hydrofoils that can lift the hull out of the water at high speed, reducing energy consumption by 80% and improving comfort and calmness. Candela said it was a "flying over the water" experience.
