CTOnews.com, September 29, the "Cyberpunk 2077: shadow of the past" expansion has been officially released recently. According to the test of the oil pipe owner Maximum Fury, the game has a strange phenomenon under the hardware of the AMD platform. The frame rate under Linux is 31% higher than that under Win11.

He tested based on the Ruilong 5 5600 platform, equipped with a B550 motherboard, 16GB DDR4 memory and a Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card. CPU, memory and GPU are all overclocked, CPU and GPU step down, and the game is set to 1080p ultra-high preset.

Using the built-in benchmark of Cyberpunk 2077, the game can achieve an average frame rate of 63.72 FPS under Fedora Linux modified version Nobara OS. With the same setting as Windows 11, the frame rate is only 48.55 FPS.

The reason for this difference is not clear, but CTOnews.com found that the operating system used by Maximum Fury is a modified version of Fedora, called the Nobara project. This release is designed to be a more user-friendly alternative to Fedora and comes with a variety of application and driver support that is lacking in the normal version. This difference may also be related to the conversion from DX12 to Vulkan.
