Samsung will launch its own cloud game service: focus on mobile games with free advertising

CTOnews.com October 3 news, Samsung may soon launch cloud game streaming services. However, the company may not compete directly with companies such as Amazon Luna, Microsoft Xbox Cloud and Nvidia GeForce Now, focusing instead on mobile games and adopting a different cloud gaming approach.

The new service has already been tested with some users, and Samsung will launch a beta version of its cloud gaming service more widely later this week during the Samsung Developer Conference 2023 event, according to Korea Economic Daily.

The service is reportedly available directly in the Game Launcher app pre-installed on Galaxy phones and tablets. Unlike most other cloud gaming services that focus on console and PC games, Samsung's cloud gaming service is aimed at players of mobile games. Currently, the service has seven games from Playrix and Snow Print Studios.

In addition, Game Launcher will not be a subscription-based service, but will be monetized through advertising, and players will be able to play for free.

In August, Jong Hyuk Woo, vice president of game services at Samsung Electronics (USA), told VentureBea: "90% of people who are interested in game content through advertising don't actually know the game content." We believe cloud games can do something for publishers of mobile games by completely disrupting user acquisition channels and getting rid of downloads, installs, and access to the App Store. "

Samsung SDC 2023 event (Samsung Developer Conference) will be held on October 6, 2023 Beijing time at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, USA. Details of the cloud game are expected to be announced at that time, and CTOnews.com will continue to pay attention to it.
