The former Sony executive showed off "the last PSP game console made in the world", with a total sales of 82.52 million units
CTOnews.com October 4 news, Sony's PSP (PlayStation Portable) game console, which is a handset launched by Sony SIE, went on sale on December 12, 2004 and discontinued production in September 2014.
During PSP's 10-year service, the third-party statistics department estimated that the console had sold more than 82 million units, but now ShawnLayden, a former Sony SIE executive, has shown off a special edition of the PSP in his collection, revealing the exact sales of the console.
According to a post released by ▲ source ShawnLayden on the X platform, the left side of the machine is printed with the words "the last PSP made in the world" and the right side has an accurate life cycle:
Production began on November 9, 2004
End of production on September 26, 2014
Total manufacturing capacity of 82523607 units (82.52 million 3607 units)
After the PSP, Sony's successor PSV handset has mixed reviews, and sales are not satisfactory. CTOnews.com inquired about Wikipedia data and learned that as of the end of production, PSV has only sold about 16 million units worldwide.
Now Sony has set its sights on the cloud serial handset. The recently launched PlayStation Portal handset needs to stream and play PS5 games with a PS5 host, but does not support running games independently.
