Samsung revealed that SmartThings currently has more than 290 million users worldwide and is approaching the milestone of 300 million users.

Samsung says SmartThings's growth has a lot to do with its vision for connected homes. CTOnews.com Inquiry learned that SmartThings is at the heart of Samsung's vision, adding support for the Matter common standard on SDC in 2022. SmartThings is not only compatible with other brands of smart home devices, but also makes it easier for users to use SmartThings as the core of smart home.

With SmartThings approaching the 300 million milestone, Samsung announced that it will improve SmartThingsHome API so that developers can easily create applications for the platform, allowing users to maximize the performance of their devices.

Together with SmartThings Context API, AI will be incorporated into the platform, providing developers with new features that take advantage of AI to enable their applications to provide a more proactive user experience.

In addition, Samsung announced the integration of SmartThings Hub features into more devices, an extension of its Hub Everywhere plan announced at SDC in 2021. This feature enables Samsung smart TVs, smart displays and home center refrigerators to work as SmartThings centers. The company announced today that this feature is currently being extended to many new products, including Samsung speakers.
