CTOnews.com previously reported that the 990 PRO 4TB uses Samsung's 8th generation V-NAND technology and an improved Samsung in-house controller to bring its performance close to the theoretical upper limit of PCIe 4.0, with sequential read speeds of up to 7450 MB / S and write speeds of up to 6900 MB/s.

The new 4TB version also increases random read and write speeds to 1,600 K and 1,550 K IOPS, respectively. Previously available 1TB / 2TB random read and write speeds of up to 1,400 K and 1,550 K IOPS respectively.

Samsung said that thanks to Samsung's 8th generation 1Tb high-density NAND and excellent stacking technology, the 990 PRO 4TB features a single-sided M.2 design, so users don't have to worry about problems such as failing to install a double-sided M.2 SSD in their laptop or damaging other components due to forced installation.
