According to Amazon Digital Music Director Steve Boom's internal distribution, the app is now officially closed and has only been in operation for 18 months.

CTOnews.com learned from a query that Amp was launched in March 2022, an audio social app where users can act as DJs, share music with other users and provide real-time comments.

Amazon announced at the time that Amp would be joined by famous musicians including Nicki Minaj, Pusha T, singer Tinashe, violinist and electronic artist Lindsey Stirling, Travis Barker, Lil Yachty and Big Boi, as well as popular radio hosts Zach Sang, Kat Corbett, Christian James Hand and Guy Raz, among others.

In July 2022, TechCrunch claimed that the app had more than 700,000 monthly active users, but in late 2022, interest in such audio social apps waned, Amp app users did not see substantial growth, but gradually declined, and almost half of Amp employees were fired during Amazon's mass layoffs last year.
