Google confirms that it will not launch low-cost Pixel phones: too many compromises to make

CTOnews.com, October 9 (Xinhua)-- Google's Pixel 8 series of phones, the company's flagship phone, also has a mid-range positioning "a" series of Pixel phones, but some people want to be able to buy cheaper Pixel phones, such as less than $200 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1462 yuan). However, an executive at Google denied this possibility in an interview with the Austrian daily Standard (German).

Nanda Ramachandran (Nanda Ramachandran), Google's vice president of mobile operations, told the Standard that the company had no plans to launch low-cost Pixel phones. "this will force us to make too many compromises," he said. He said there would be "too many compromises" to provide new artificial intelligence, powerful cameras and a corresponding security framework at a price of 200 euros / $200.

CTOnews.com noted that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are $100 more expensive than their predecessors, starting at $700 and $1000, respectively. The price increase means that the price of the upcoming Pixel 8a is also likely to rise, which is expected to be released in mid-2024.
