CTOnews.com, October 9 (Xinhua)-- the TIOBE programming Community Index, a measure of the popularity of programming languages, is judged by engineers, courses, suppliers and search engines around the world. TIOBE recently released a ranking of programming languages for October 2023.

Python continues to rank first, accounting for 14.82%, down 2.25% this month

C ranked second, accounting for 12.08%, down 3.13% this month

C++ overtook Java this month to rank third, accounting for 10.67%, up 0.74% this month.

Java ranked fourth this month, accounting for 8.92%, down 3.92% this month

C# ranked fifth, accounting for 7.71%, up 3.29% this month

Python, C and Java all fell this month, while Java fell the most, falling to the fourth place, with-3.92%, while C# had the biggest increase, up 3.29%.

In response, TIOBE's CEO Paul Jansen believes that the gap between C# and Java has never been so small, and that the main reason for the decline in Java's popularity is Oracle's decision to introduce a paid licensing model after Java 8, while Microsoft has taken the opposite approach on C#.
