Perseverance sends back a new picture showing the turquoise sunset peculiar to Mars

CTOnews.com, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) according to the latest tweets shared by NASA, perseverance, which is on a scientific expedition to Mars, has sent back a new photo showing the unique blue (originally Blue) "sunset" scene on Mars.

This photo, taken by perseverance on the 842nd Mars Day, shows a turquoise sunset on 5: 00 / 04 / 58. 610. But for astronomers, the greater significance of this image is to help them understand the scattering of light on Mars.

CTOnews.com Note: light scattering refers to the phenomenon that part of the light propagates away from the original direction when it passes through an inhomogeneous medium.

By comparing sunsets on Earth, astronomers can further understand the way light travels in the Martian atmosphere, help them better understand the state of the Martian atmosphere, and help deduce the future evolution of the Martian atmosphere.
