Ubisoft executive: cloud games are the trend, but physical CDs will not leave the stage.

CTOnews.com October 14 news, Ubisoft Senior Vice President Chris Early said in an interview recently that even if cloud games are popular in the future, physical game CDs will not disappear.

"there are always players who want to have physical CDs, and I don't think physical CDs will disappear," Early said in an interview. Will physical sales decline in the future? the answer is yes, but will physical CDs be completely retired from history? I don't think so.

CTOnews.com note: Microsoft recently completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard after reaching a 15-year agreement with Ubisoft on cloud gaming media rights to appease regulators.

The agreement includes all existing games of Activision Blizzard and all new games launched within 15 years of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. These games will be logged into Ubisoft+, while allowing Ubisoft to license them to cloud game companies, service providers and console manufacturers.

Early did not provide a specific timetable for when Activision Blizzard games could stream on Ubisoft+, saying only that the company would take the time to study cloud back-end technology to support "the experience we want players to have."
