This guide highlights the steps necessary for users to run a Linux distribution on PC, including selecting the appropriate Linux distribution, recommending preferred installation, and so on, as well as providing more insights into the distribution manager and tidbits about updating and upgrading available packages.

Microsoft stressed in the tutorial: "Linux is an operating system, similar to Windows, but because of its open source and fully customizable nature, there are many different distributions."

This tutorial introduces four installation scenarios, and if you want to experience the Linux distribution on Windows, using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a good solution.

The WSL scenario can run the GNU / Linux environment directly on Windows, including most command-line tools, utilities, and applications.
