CTOnews.com, Oct. 17 (Xinhua)-- based on the US 5G network, Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max outpaced Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra with a median downstream speed of 251.37 Mbps, according to a new research report released by speed testing company Ookla.

The company conducted the same speed test in the second quarter of this year, with a median downstream speed of 127.83 Mbps for iPhone 14 Pro Max, compared with 96.6% faster for iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Test data for the third quarter of 2023

The Q2 2023 test data report shows only Q2 and Q3 test data, so it is not clear how much of the iPhone 15 Pro Max performance improvement comes from the device / hardware itself and how much from network improvements.

CTOnews.com Note: with the launch of iPhone 14 Pro Max, Ookla measured the highest average download speed of 147Mbps. As the adoption rate of iPhone 14 Pro Max held steady at 127 Mbps in the second quarter of this year, this number declined.

If the same is true this time, in the long run, we will see that the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers a median download speed of about 230 Mbps, which may be about 100 Mbps faster than the previous generation.
