CTOnews.com Netflix is stepping up efforts to expand its mobile gaming business. Subscribers will soon see more mobile games adapted from Netflix shows, such as Squid Games and Wednesday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

While mobile gaming isn't entirely new territory for Netflix, it's still finding its place in the company's business model. For now, Netflix's app prompts users to download and play games such as Exploding Kittens: The Game or Ghost Detective, which can be found in the app store, and subsequent Netflix subscribers will be able to play games directly on their smart TVs and computers.

CTOnews.com notes that Netflix currently doesn't charge extra for its games and only requires subscribers to play them on their phones. Netflix currently offers more than 70 games on its platform, with plans to expand the lineup further by the end of 2023. Netflix will also continue to license non-show-related games, such as Classic Solitaire, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Netflix has been involved in mobile games for less than two years, but the company has become an independent publisher. We've seen the company deliver on its promise to develop games based on hit shows, launching Netflix Stories: Blind Date, an interactive story game based on reality series, just last month, and now the company seems ready to put more effort into games.
