TSMC abandoned the location of an advanced chip factory in northern Taiwan because of local residents' protest.

TSMC said it would work with the government-run Science Park Administration to "assess land in Taiwan suitable for semiconductor factory construction," without mentioning potential alternative sites.
CTOnews.com learned from the Central News Agency that TSMC intended to build a 1-nanometer chip factory in Longtan last year. Taiwan Economic Minister Wang Meihua said that since semiconductors are one of the most important industries in Taiwan, they will help TSMC meet its land, water and power needs.
TSMC is currently building a 2-nanometer chip factory in Kaohsiung City in the south. Chen Qimai said that Kaohsiung City has enough water, electricity and land to build more semiconductor factories.
