Spencer talked about the acquisition of Blizzard and promoted the development of Xbox mobile game business with the help of King.
CTOnews.com October 18 news, Microsoft game business leader Phil Spencer (Phil Spencer) in the latest issue of Xbox official podcast program, when talking about the recent completion of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard topic, stressed that Xbox must strengthen the mobile game field.
"We have to connect mobile devices," Spencer said on the podcast. Mobile devices such as mobile phones have become the largest platforms in the world. If we ignore or bypass them, we can't really plan for the future. For this reason, we need to find a team that has achieved amazing success."
Spencer discussed possible mobile acquisition targets with Microsoft CFO Amy Hood and confirmed Activision Blizzard King was the most suitable target.
CTOnews.com Note: Leaked documents from Microsoft v. FTC court hearings earlier this year also show Spencer considered Microsoft buying mobile publisher Zynga, but the company was eventually acquired by Take-Two Interactive.
Spencer is more interested in King's future potential, admitting that he first visited King's headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, and then went to Activision Blizzard.
Activision Blizzard King also released mobile games Call of Duty: Mobile under Activision and Diablo: Immortal under Blizzard Entertainment. Spencer said he wants to learn from all of these teams, while assuring fans that he won't give up Xbox console and Windows PC games.
"It doesn't mean I want to turn all of our franchises into mobile franchises or that everything will be free," Spencer explained. "The diversity of brands is an advantage, he added.
