Urge individual enthusiasts to update, Qt Framework 6.5 LTS version to "for commercial customers only" phase

CTOnews.com, October 19, Qt Framework version 6.6 was launched on October 10, mainly introducing "Qt Graphs", adding "responsive layout" to Qt Quick, and improving the text-to-speech (Text to Speech) module.

The previous Qt 6.5LTS has entered the "Commercial-only only" phase, the official said today, and the relevant version will be "available only to large enterprise users with commercial licenses". Only the latest unstable version is still available for free for individual enthusiasts.

Qt 6.6.0 has now been officially released, and the first patch of this release (Qt 6.6.1) will be released in November, and it is time to enter the commercial dedicated LTS phase of Qt 6.5 LTS.

6.5 all existing branches are still open, but they no longer accept new commit and cherry-picks-- except Qt WebEngine, because it has third-party dependencies that use the LPGL license.

Effective from October 18, 2023. After that, cherry-picks will enter another warehouse, which is open only to commercial license holders.

The first commercial-only patch for Qt 6.5.4 LTS is scheduled for release at the end of November.

External module maintainers can continue to access Qt 6.5 proprietary warehouses for commercial customers.

It is reported that Qt launched this policy in January 2020, when it claimed that it was a "reform of operating strategy". All users need to sign up for a Qt account to get the binaries for installing Qt (source files are not restricted). At the same time, long-term supported versions (LTS) and offline installers are only available for large enterprise users, and only unstable versions are still available for individual enthusiasts free of charge.
