Google locks the temperature sensor of Pixel 8 Pro mobile phone, and the third-party application cannot call it temporarily.
CTOnews.com October 21 news, developer Mishaal Rahman dug deep into the relevant code, confirmed that Google is currently locked in the Pixel 8 Pro temperature sensor, only trusted applications can call to obtain relevant data.
According to Rahman's mining information, developers who want to invoke Pixel 8 Pro's temperature sensor in an app must have the "com.google.sensor.permission.FAR_INFRARED_TEMPERATURE" permission, which is currently limited to pre-installed apps or Google-signed apps.
CTOnews.com also learned from the report that another developer, Mika, reverse-compiled the Thermometer app in an attempt to force permissions. Unfortunately, after recompiling, the temperature sensor information cannot be read from the application.
Rahman digs further and finds that each object type has a preset emissivity value. For example, fabrics have an emissivity level of 0.85f, while organic foods and beverages have an emissivity level closest to the acceptable value for human skin emissivity, i.e. 0.98f. Rahman says near-accurate temperature readings can be obtained based on these options.
