CTOnews.com, October 22, the latest AMD Ryzen 7040 series laptops are equipped with a dedicated Xilinx IP-based AI engine called "Ryzen AI" that accelerates machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. At present, however, this Ryzen AI only supports Microsoft Windows. But if there is enough customer demand, that may change.

Back in June, AMD released some demo code for Ryzen AI on GitHub, some of which are open source, but only for Windows,AMD and no Ryzen AI Linux drivers have been released.

Then a request for Linux support was made on GitHub, but the issue was closed three days later, and no solution or Linux support plan was communicated.

But today the Linux request was reopened by an AMD employee on the grounds that (Linux) customers could express their needs: "reopen the problem so that customers can record their Linux requests."

In another request for Linux support, it is also recommended to like Linux support threads (+ 1). If you are interested to see Ryzen AI support Linux: "Please add a" + 1 "comment in # 2 to support Linux."

CTOnews.com notes that Ryzen AI is currently only available in the Ryzen 7040 mobile series, but it is predictable that more Xilinx IP will be available in their future processors. Given the increasing workload of AI and the fact that Intel has mainlined its open source Meteor Lake VPU / NPU support in Linux 6.3, and even its next-generation NPU supports Arrow Lake, it is hoped that AMD will start enabling Ryzen AI for Linux.
