Capcom's presentation on the official R & D channel shows that in the section entitled "the Future of the RE engine", it delves into some of the challenges facing the game engine, including the need for a high degree of customization for each game. Capcom's solution is to develop a "new engine standard" and call it REX.

It is reported that the REX engine will include all the previous functions of the RE engine, increase support for new technologies, and deal with the growing asset size more effectively.

Dragon Creed 2 will be the next game to use RE engine technology, and IGN says the new Monster Hunter game will also be launched in 2024.

CTOnews.com Inquiry learned that the development of the RE engine began in 2014 and finally made its debut in biochemical Evil 7 in 2017.
